Unemployment insurance hike will only leave more jobless

To the Editor:
Cumberland Times-News

I am in receipt of my letter from the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation with regard to the upcoming increase in the unemployment insurance rate for 2010. This increase is unprecedented and will only serve to place more people on the unemployment line.

This represents between 27 percent to 33 percent increase to those of us that are keeping people working. It appears to me the best way for small business to get government’s attention is to fail and require a bailout.

If you mange to be at all self-sufficient you are penalized by being forced to support those that are not.

Something has got to change or there won’t be any of us left to tax.
