America, the ball is now in your court

A question for Americans: Do you still want to control your government as the Constitution allows, or would you rather just let government take control of everything you do? If you chose the latter, why?

The freedoms you are willing to throw away were paid for by Americans who gave their lives so that you might enjoy them. But, if you replied that you still want to enjoy these freedoms, then why aren’t you paying attention to what’s happening to your country?

These freedoms were paid for by defeating external forces, but are now under attack from within by this Administration and members of Congress, the very people Americans elected to office.

Every day, these people are taking, or trying to take, another of our freedoms from us. America, what are you going to do about it?

If you’re only plugged into the mainstream media, you don’t know what’s really going on here! You’re only hearing what they choose to tell you.

Americans, what do you expect from your government? Do you expect to be lied to? Are you aware, that those in power are constantly lying to you so that they can continue with their agenda? And beware, that agenda happens to be the biggest power grab in the history of the United States.

Some of the lies told and repeated by this administration include their insistence that the coordinated terrorist attacks resulting in the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi, were caused by a rogue video on You Tube and, of course, “If you like your healthcare you can keep your healthcare and, if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor” untruth about Obamacare that was repeated constantly for years, with the full knowledge that it wasn’t so.

And your Constitution and Bill of Rights, America. How important are they to you? Well, we know the president has overstepped his authority numerous times and made a mockery of our founding document.

And here’s something truly amazing. During his State of the Union address, he boldly stated that he would by-pass Congress to get his pet proposals enforced…he was going to illegally usurp power that is theirs and theirs alone.

And, unbelievably, some members of that body actually stood and applauded his statement. It was reminiscent of the old Russian dictators or Fidel Castro addressing their “puppet” assemblies.

Our Constitution implies: Government should be of laws, rather than of men, and Congress is “the only body authorized to make or change laws.” Obama is not yet the “King” of the United States, and he is bound by the restrictions placed on the Executive Branch.

Remember he took an oath to “Preserve, Protect and Defend the Constitution…so help him God.”

But remember, prior to taking office for his first term, he said: “We are just days away from fundamentally changing the United States of America.” Which statement do you think he is governing by?

Also note: 35 states have already sued the government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them.  Just 38 states are required for a Constitutional Convention.

An over-bloated federal government, one that subscribes to Socialism, never survives. Essentially, it kills the private sector through regulations and taxation, and in so doing, deprives it of its means to exist.

But America, if you wait until that happens, it will be much, much too late. Our country will be no more!

As Thomas Jefferson once said, “eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

Knowledge is power, and only an informed citizenry will be able to remain free.

  • Remember, we’re not immune to extinction

I’d like to pose a theoretical scenario to Cal Thomas.

If a medical specialist said, “Cal, you’ve got a serious physical problem. Do nothing and you’ll die soon. Follow my prescription, which involves certain life-style changes, and there’s a good probability you’ll live, even if your life may be a bit more constrained than now.”

  • Tell legislators to do what is right for America’s vets

Without our veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, where would America be today? It is anyone’s guess, however certainly not the Freedom and Liberty we enjoy.

  • Move over Move over

Have you noticed, in your travels, that the front end of a police cruiser usually protrudes a bit more than you would expect when the officer has it parked behind another vehicle on the side of the road?

An open letter to the electrical power companies in West Virginia and Maryland:
The return of electrical power to my home recently, after its unexpected failure for approximately 48 hours, as a result of such a sudden and violent storm, reminded me anew of how much I take for granted.

In response to Frank J. Clark’s well intentioned letter, “Don’t be too quick to legalize marijuana use,” July 10 Times-News), I believe that his letter misses the point of legalizing and regulating marijuana.
