To the Editor:
I am writing this letter to the editor because I think our community really needs to work on plenty of issues. Some of them are:
1. Respecting others: People really need to work on how they treat others. I am a student in Allegany High School and every day walking to gym I always see a bunch of kids making fun of some students that have disabilities.
It breaks my heart to see people so mean, I always want to say something to them, but I’m just a ninth grader and I feel if I get involved I can end up making it worse. I think people should solve this issue by talking to their kids and explaining why its so wrong to bully.
2. Getting an education: I think its important for everyone to get an education to grow and get a great job. I see all these people coming to school like literally once or twice a week, and then they complain when they realize they are failing classes and most likely not going to graduate.
I think this issue could be solved by having parents making their kids go to school all the time, and making sure they are keeping good grades.
If kids are really sick, family issues, death or a family vacation I think its an excuse to be absent at school. It’s no reason if you just wanna skip!
3. Following laws: I think we need to solve the issue of following laws greatly. I see all these middle school and high school kids doing drugs, getting drunk, vandalizing, and plenty more illegal stuff.
All these kids think it makes them look cool and more popular but it doesn’t, it makes them look dumb, and people lose lots of respect for all these ungrateful kids.
I think we could help this issue by being strict on your kids, not like letting them have no fun, but to know the difference from the right and wrong ways.
If people would go these things we could have a safer environment, more college degrees, and smarter kids, less bullying, more laws to be followed, and maybe safer streets.
