Light a candle for those addicted to prescriptions

I just received word from a friend, who I have not spoken with since Thanksgiving.  She notified me her sister, who went to Costa Rica, during the holiday, passed away peacefully in here sleep. Cause: Prescription pills.

I recently bought a candle, before hearing the news from my friend. I have been lighting it every day for one hour along with a prayer for those who are addicted to prescription pill and those who have died from them.

I know it will take more than a candle and a prayer to help those facing an addiction, at least I know God is hearing my prayers. I shared this ritual with my friend in Miami and she will also do the same. She will ask her friends and family to follow along with us.

I am asking the area churches, addiction centers and all those who are reading this, to light a candle for one hour and say a prayer for those who have an addiction to prescription pills. Do so until Christmas day.

Many of these addicts would not be addicts if “drug lord” doctors would check the signs of addiction through their eyes, hands, feet, arms and help them get off the pills instead of constantly prescribing them each month.

I ask these so-called doctors, is money more important that the well being of your patient? Let me answer for you. “Yes.”

I don’t think any of these pain pill doctors sat in an ER room when one of their patients OD or being a breath away from death.

  • Remember, we’re not immune to extinction

I’d like to pose a theoretical scenario to Cal Thomas.

If a medical specialist said, “Cal, you’ve got a serious physical problem. Do nothing and you’ll die soon. Follow my prescription, which involves certain life-style changes, and there’s a good probability you’ll live, even if your life may be a bit more constrained than now.”

  • Tell legislators to do what is right for America’s vets

Without our veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, where would America be today? It is anyone’s guess, however certainly not the Freedom and Liberty we enjoy.
