Nobody wins it, and you should call it by its proper name

CUMBERLAND — I would like to add to Randy Merritt’s excellent letter (“Nobody ‘wins’ the Medal of Honor; they have earned it,” June 5 Times-News).

Not only does nobody “win” any award in the military, but there is no such thing as a “Congressional Medal of Honor” or the trendy “CMOH” as some “wannabes” might say.

There is a “Congressional Medal of Freedom,” but there is a “Medal of Honor,” for military awards.

I have heard a lot of civilians use the term “Congressional Medal of Honor” and even some military people, who should know better.
