To the Editor:
I am a veteran and retired federal civil service worker who faithfully and loyally served and worked for our country and gave 40 years of my life to it.
I served in the Naval Reserves, active duty in the U.S. Navy, which during that time I served aboard three different Navy ships, two shore duty stations, overseas in the Philippines. I did seven overseas deployments, two Mediterranean cruises, two Caribbean cruises and three western Pacific cruises.
I have been separated from my family, did days of duty, been in hostile war zones.
After I have served in the Navy I went to work for the U.S.Marine Corps in federal civil service, then I worked for the U.S. Navy in federal civil service, and then I went to work for the U.S. Air Force in civil service, I bought back my military time so that I could retire.
After a grand total of 40 years of faithful, loyal and dedicated service I retired, and my retirement is taxed.
We have former members of the House and Senate of Congress that have never served in the military at all enjoying 100 percent tax free retirement, they get free medical and free dental at all military medical and dental facilities, are first priority when being seen at these medical and dental facilities.
They get to have commissary and base exchange shopping rights, get to be first priority at a military air base in a space available flight.
These former members of the House and Senate who never served in our military don’t know what it’s like to be away from their families at all, they also are getting tax free cost of living adjustments with their tax free retirement, while many people who served get to pay taxes on their retirement.
This is a total insult, humiliation and a slap in the face for all those faithful, loyal and dedicated years of government service to our nation while these former members of the House and Senate who never served in the military are the biggest bunch of traitors, backstabbers and hypocrites there are.
