To the Editor:
President Barack Obama said we are no longer a Christian nation. It upsets me to think he might be right this one time.
Both Catholic and Protestant churches are either closing or having to combine congregations because of a lack of parishioners.
During the times of trouble in the great depression and during World War II our churches were filled and we were victorious because we were united. Not so any more.
We haven’t won a war since World War II. The only ones who have had to sacrifice in the wars since World War II have been the military personnel and their families.
Right now a Christan minister is imprisoned Iran ban because he loves Jesus and, as a brave devoted Christian, he is doing what Jesus instructed his disciples to do!
Where is the outcry from our government and our Christian churches? I feel that every Christian church should cry out about this injustice from every pulpit and, if done, his release would be immediate.
Christians in many Muslim countries are being murdered and our government and our Christian churches remain silent. Are we so afraid of hurting Muslims feelings that we don’t speak out with a firmer voice about these injustices?
Again I say: Where have all the Christians gone? Will we be silenced forever! I pray not.
