There is a difference between a cell phone and an AR15 rifle

In response to Fred Paugh’s letter to the editor of Sept. 18 (“Army has never referred to these weapons as assault rifles”):

Did I read correctly that Mr. Paugh equates ownership of an AR15 or a 30-round magazine with ownership of a TV, cell phone, car, boat, automobile, home, or electricity?

Surely some part of his letter must have been omitted or reproduced incorrectly. If he truly cannot see the difference for his family and his children between his neighbor or a stranger owning a cell phone or owning an AR15, then I tremble for the implications for the future of our society.

Mr. Paugh, please think it through a little more thoroughly!
