Try allowing our veterans to find health care in the private sector

— From recent revelations that over 100,000 veterans have waited more than 90 days or have fallen through the cracks altogether, it is evident that the VA is overwhelmed and cannot cope with the volume of veterans needing health care.

I presume that in order to build hospitals and recruit sufficient doctors to handle this volume, it would cost billions of dollars and take years to accomplish.

Since it appears that Obamacare is going to be around for a while, and the mechanisms are already in place to grant subsidies to low income people to buy insurance, if subsidies were granted to all veterans so that they could find medical care in the private sector, wouldn’t that alleviate the problem — at least until a better solution can be found?
