As a responsible citizen of the great state of Maryland, I believe it is my duty to tell you about the last, best chance to save the Republic from the overreaching federal government.
Thoughtful Americans know that Washington is on a dangerous course, usurping the rightful power from the people and from the states, and incurring insurmountable debt burdens that will fall on the shoulders of our children and grandchildren.
Few Americans know that we, the people, possess the power to make changes to the federal structure when Washington starts to abuse its authority.
The framers of our Constitution foresaw a time when the federal leadership might grow out of control, and they were brilliant enough to leave us a remedy.
Article V of the Constitution authorizes the people — through their state legislatures — to initiate a convention of the states for the purpose of proposing amendments to the Constitution.
The federal government cannot stop this.
Citizens for Self-Governance has launched the Convention of States Project to make this become reality: a convention that would propose amendments to limit Washington’s power.
The great state of Maryland has a leadership team in place to spearhead this movement.
We are looking for Marylanders who will join us to urge our state legislators to draft a bill to call for such a convention.
Three other states (Virginia, South Carolina, and Florida) have pre-filed such bills already.
To get involved, at any level, first educate yourself by visiting our website, www.conventionofstates.com.
You can contact Maryland’s COS state leadership through the website, or me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I believe the COS Project gives us a way out of the mess D.C. has created. I want Maryland to be one of the states calling for a convention of states.
Our legislature is in session in Annapolis right now. Together we can help preserve liberty for our children and grandchildren.
