Chaplains seeking more Bibles for U.S. troops in Afghanistan

To the Editor: Dr. Cecil Todd, founder of Revival Fires Ministry in Branson, Mo., has received a call for another 5,000 Bibles for our troops in Afghanistan.

This could be our last push for Bibles for Afghanistan. President Obama is planning to
bring home all but 5,000 of our troops by Jan. 1, 2015. He said we have 33,000 in Afghanistan now — 5,000 without a Bible, That is our assignment!

Previous sponsors of Bibles should have received a letter notifying them of this need. The 5,000 Bibles at a cost of $20,000 sent to our troops by July 4, according to Todd.

Todd stated this area is the biggest producer of Bibles and he is hoping that we can come thru as like last year when we raised $7,630 for
1907.5 Bibles for the Armed Services Chaplains request.

Sponsors should have received a “flag card” with their letter, printed with a notice and lined space to insert a verse of scripture from the Bible as well as a personal message.

Sponsors should complete that card and send with their contribution for Bibles to him and I will forward them to Revival Fires for placement in the Bibles.

Their signed “flag card” will be personally
inserted into one of the Bibles before shipment.

Checks should be made to Revival Fires Ministry. All donations are tax exempt and should be mailed to Jimmie Flanagan, 10409 Witt lane SW, la Vale, MD. 21502.

For further information, I may be contacted at 301-722-7828 and first time sponsors will have a card inserted in the Bibles also.

I’d like to pose a theoretical scenario to Cal Thomas.

If a medical specialist said, “Cal, you’ve got a serious physical problem. Do nothing and you’ll die soon. Follow my prescription, which involves certain life-style changes, and there’s a good probability you’ll live, even if your life may be a bit more constrained than now.”
