Academy has been helped by many, but has a long way to go

— On Thursday, June 12, tragedy struck Calvary Christian Academy as a flash flood overran the Warrior Run Creek, severely damaging much of the school.

But with the help of so many, and by the grace of God, Calvary has been resilient and has begun rebuilding and repairing much of the school.

Cleanup began Friday, June 13. Since then, almost all of the lower level rooms have been stripped and cleaned, removing all carpeting, walls, bathroom vanities, kitchen cabinets, damaged desks and bookcases, damaged classroom supplies, computers, etc.  The gym and cafeteria area flooring has been removed and cleaned out, as it was also flooded.

With dozens of volunteers coming out each day, the school has been underway in reconstruction and repairs. But Calvary has a long way to go. Any donations are greatly appreciated. Donations can range from room air conditioners to a gas stove and everything in between.

Almost all of the teachers’ materials and supplies have been destroyed, along with many office and administrative tools. For a complete list of items needed, please contact the school office.

All monetary donations should be labeled as Flood Fund and mailed to:

Calvary Baptist Church or Calvary Christian Academy, PO Box 5154, Cresaptown, MD 21505

If there are any questions, please contact the school or church office.
