Can we find leadership that will get Cumberland back on track?

To the Editor:

A poor economy is the cause of Cumberland’s many problems. Everyone can see that. Yet we have all these committees, groups, departments, PACE, that brag about doing something.

What have they done? Why don’t we get industry into the area?

If people have employment they will have money in their pockets and will support local business and projects. A poor economy affects the future development of the area; no one has faith in future investments.

Cumberland in the late 1890s and early 1900s was an industrial center, people had money and supported many cultural, amusements.. and businesses. Today the poor economy has caused loss of population, more welfare and unemployment. People don’t have lots of money to spend to support local projects.

In 2014 do we have the leadership that will put Cumberland back on the map of Maryland?
