To the Editor:
The West Virginia Senate has voted 25-9 to pass legislation that requires anyone wanting what was over the counter common flu and cold medications to take the day off and go to a doctor to get a prescription to obtain same.
Imagine the cost and impact on our medical care system.
This legislation will penalize all citizens except the criminals and will in fact make criminals of anyone who might obtain these over-the-counter meds without a doctor’s prescription.
Otherwise, we the law-abiding citizens will get penalized for the criminal actions of the most immoral members of our society.
And what will the meth drug dealers do? How about going to Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, or Pennsylvania? Are we going to a military state and search all cars entering the state?
However, the chair of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, Corey Palumbo, said “Meth has become a scourge in our society and this is the action we need to take to eradicate these labs.”
This reaction to dealing with important issues facing we the people is getting to be typical of our dysfunctional and inept representation in Charleston.
It’s time for people to wake up and clean house. Get people in the Senate and House that are willing to deal with the issues in a constitutional and realistic manner.
The politically correct are decimating our society. They refuse to provide legislation and direction that really impacts the criminal and instead continue to penalize the most innocent of our society.
I called it pretend law or pagan law. No matter what you call it, it is unconstitutional.
Fix the problem, vote them out.
