Pet food bank coming, can help people feed their animals

To the Editor:
Cumberland Times-News

— It has come to my attention that there are many people in Allegany County who are giving up their beloved pets to the shelter and I have heard that people are putting them on the streets to fend for themselves because they cannot afford to feed them, due to job loss, elderly, illness, etc.

There will be help coming soon. I am asking that if you have pet food that you no longer need, perhaps a pet has died or other reason, that you donate it to my pet food bank.

We can use pet food of any kind, pet beds, leashes, collars, cat litter, anything pet related. Of course, food is the most important thing, but other things for pet comfort are also needed. If cash is donated, I will purchase food and litter for the pet food bank.

This is very important and very much needed in Allegany County to keep pets out of shelters and off the streets, especially with winter approaching.

The animals on the streets fending for themselves will most likely die from starvation, predator attack, auto accidents or the harsh winter elements.

Please help the animals of Allegany County with your kind donations. My Christmas wish is that Wal-Mart will donate their broken bags of pet food.

With their help I could do so much to help the animals and people of Allegany County. If anyone knows the manager there, please ask him to help me give back to the community.

Please contact me at wildliferescuelady or Bettie at 301-478-5181 during the hours of 9 am to 6 pm, email anytime.

The pet food bank will be open as soon as I collect enough donations to make a difference.

If you need help feeding your pets, please let me know. I have a little food I can distribute.
