Like it or not, she is the nation’s health care czar

CUMBERLAND — The most common phrase in the PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) is “the secretary shall.”

More than 700 times, the PPACA says “the secretary shall.” Even though the PPACA is one of the longest pieces of legislation in U.S. History, it is still only a skeleton.

It leaves the Secretary of Health and Human Services with incredible discretion. She could be the most powerful person in America. An unelected czar.

As a member of the president’s cabinet, that position is a part of the executive branch of government. That branch is to enforce laws and not make them. According to the U.S. Constitution, Congress is supposed to make law.

“Secretary,” as in “the secretary of health and human services,” is mentioned more than 2,500 times in the 2,700 page law. After years of “regs” made by Kathleen Sibelius there no difference between her rules and law.

She is the health care czar. She is the woman in the doctrine “ a woman’s right to chose.”  Ask any child under 12 that who a transplant! Unless Kathleen says yes or waives off that child might inadvertently be a “post birth abortion.”

Just think what chances Granny may have. Life or death in the hands of political hacks.

  • Remember, we’re not immune to extinction

I’d like to pose a theoretical scenario to Cal Thomas.

If a medical specialist said, “Cal, you’ve got a serious physical problem. Do nothing and you’ll die soon. Follow my prescription, which involves certain life-style changes, and there’s a good probability you’ll live, even if your life may be a bit more constrained than now.”

  • Tell legislators to do what is right for America’s vets

Without our veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, where would America be today? It is anyone’s guess, however certainly not the Freedom and Liberty we enjoy.

  • Move over Move over

Have you noticed, in your travels, that the front end of a police cruiser usually protrudes a bit more than you would expect when the officer has it parked behind another vehicle on the side of the road?

An open letter to the electrical power companies in West Virginia and Maryland:

  • Scare tactics, misinformation abound regarding marijuana

In response to Frank J. Clark’s well intentioned letter, “Don’t be too quick to legalize marijuana use,” July 10 Times-News), I believe that his letter misses the point of legalizing and regulating marijuana.
