Stop buying licenses; let them find the money somewhere else

A few months ago, I received two cards from the National Rifle Association. These were dealing with a legislative alert.

They asked that I should contact Sen. George Edwards and Delegate Kevin Kelly concerning the anti-gun legislation. These laws want to strip away your civil liberties.

I called the National Rifle Association and spoke with Chris W. Cox, the ILA executive director. My question to him was why would I want to talk to the two politicians. They stepped on my individual liberties and Constitutional rights with the closing of the Lonaconing Trap Club.

Gov. Martin O’Malley and the General Assembly drafted two bills: House Bill 294 and Senate Bill 282, the Firearm Safety Act of 2013.

Both of these bills are in violation of our individual liberties and Constitutional rights. In my opinion, in this state if we do not adhere to these bills then a lot of law abiding citizens are going to become felons. It has been brought to my attention that the NRA has filed a lawsuit against this state.

Here is the Second Amendment to our Constitution. It states “a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

I also received the Maryland Constitution State Book. After reading it, I see why our government is out of control. What a joke it has become!

Our politicians only have one thing to remember: The United States Constitution shall be the supreme law of the land. It seems that all of our elected officials have forgotten the three basic documents which our country was founded on.

Let’s go back to Gov. O’Malley. I will not reveal all of the stupid spending. Here is one, the transportation fund. It generates over $500 million a year, and it is about broke. Another fund that generates nearly $600 million to the state’s economy comes from hunters, trappers and fisherman. This is never talked about.

If our leadership is this arrogant to try to take our individual liberties and Constitutional rights away, let’s hit them where it will hurt.

I know that I am asking a great deal from the sportsmen. Let’s boycott this state by laying down our hunting and fishing licenses for the next two years.

In this way the governor will need to find this sum of $120 million from somewhere else.

  • Remember, we’re not immune to extinction

I’d like to pose a theoretical scenario to Cal Thomas.

If a medical specialist said, “Cal, you’ve got a serious physical problem. Do nothing and you’ll die soon. Follow my prescription, which involves certain life-style changes, and there’s a good probability you’ll live, even if your life may be a bit more constrained than now.”

  • Tell legislators to do what is right for America’s vets

Without our veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, where would America be today? It is anyone’s guess, however certainly not the Freedom and Liberty we enjoy.

Have you noticed, in your travels, that the front end of a police cruiser usually protrudes a bit more than you would expect when the officer has it parked behind another vehicle on the side of the road?
