To the Editor:
One of the news events I have followed closely was the closing of the World War II Memorial, as my father was a veteran.
The sight of the vets marching on “their” memorial was inspiring. No longer the brave, young men who went to war to save the world from fascism and tyranny, they were nonetheless standing united and strong in defense of our freedoms.
I doubt that any of them thought that 70 years after WWII, they would be fighting for liberty in our own streets. Several Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, joined illegal immigrants, rallying on the supposedly “closed” National Mall.
However, they had no time for these heroes. Shame on them. If these brave men do not deserve our respect, then who does?
