To the Editor:
As we approach Christmas, have you thought about the Christmas gifts you will be placing for your children under the tree?
How many of you bought learning tools for them, How many of you bought “Angry Birds”? The title alone is frightening.
I am currently at retirement age now and when I look back and remember our Christmas there was never any kind of destructive gifts under our tree.
Most parents do not even have the slightest idea what destructive games they are buying their children, the killings and shootings are constant.
Video games that have this kind of material in them should be banned from sale. Another destructive culprit and the worst is our favorite friend the television.
Where do you think your children get their ideas from?
When we were kids, there was no violence on TV. We had mostly cartoons, westerns, and game shows, If someone got shot in a western it was mostly in the shoulder or leg, then they were taken to jail. Hardly ever did someone die.
We are teaching our children to kill!
We are at fault because we give them access to this filth.
If we stop buying it maybe it will go away.
Get your child off the streets, get them enrolled in church and youth programs where they have people that care about them, The YMCA, Boys and Girls Clubs and of course the Scouts.
Start a youth program in your neighborhood. The boy that killed these children was still a child himself.
Our children must be saved and only we as parents can do this.
