To the Editor:
When I opened the Times-News the other day, I was saddened to see Geraldine “Gerrie” Brown had passed away (Obituary July 13, Page 2B).
For many years, she and her husband Jim were faithful ushers at the Cumberland Theatre. They always had a kind word and praise for the performers and all those involved in the productions.
Many times I would call her if we needed extra help, and she and Jim would happily walk over from their home across the street.
Even after Jim passed, Gerrie continued to volunteer her services. We greatly appreciated the many times she would bring over a big platter of her delicious cucumber sandwiches for our opening night parties.
Gerrie was a woman of faith who enjoyed life and valued the love of family.
Her willingness to serve others and her enthusiasm for life led her to be surrounded by many devoted friends, and she will be greatly missed by all.
I picture Gerrie seated next to her beloved Jim viewing the everlasting show from God’s balcony. Bravo to you, Gerrie!
