Somebody tell them county won’t be paying ‘rain tax’

To the Editor:
Cumberland Times-News

— Would someone at the Times-News please step up and correct the gross misunderstanding about the “Rain Tax” that is routinely printed in the Times-News? Please?

Allegany County residents and businesses will not be paying the “Rain Tax.”

 And directly from these Notes:

“Local Fiscal Effect: Currently, 10 local jurisdictions in Maryland are subject to a Phase I MS4 permit: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Charles, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George’s counties and Baltimore City.”

Of course, the scope of this law might very well change in the future, but please stop printing blatant falsehoods without at least correcting the record or including demonstrable facts. Even opinion letters that ignore facts should be noted as such.
