An immoral government is also a dangerous government

Catholic archbishop Thomas Wenski said, “When a democracy bases itself on moral relativism and when it considers every ethical principle or value to be negotiable (including every human being’s fundamental right to life), it is already, and in spite of its formal rules, on its way to totalitarianism. The might of right quickly becomes might makes right.”

Our laws are natural and obvious truths, the example of St. Thomas More, the patron saint of lawyers and politicians, who described himself as “the King’s good servant but God’s servant first.” There is priority.

The artificiality of marriage equality, based upon the political coercion is is very wide door.

“The proponents of so-called same-sex marriage would now redefine marriage for all as existing solely for the gratification of two and why just two? consenting adults,” said Wenski. “Why shouldn’t bisexuals be given the right to both a husband and a wife? “

We are entering into a social contract whereby all morality, and all rights are determined by government.

It is frightening! Power, corruption, and ignorance really determines the moral parameters of society.

Carrying St. Thomas More’s (patron of lawyers and politicians), concerns into modern terms one could say that the only thing that is more frightening than a man with a gun, is a lawyer with a brief case, or even more frightening is politicians with pens.

Our current state of government, based upon the acquisition of power by appealing to a complete reordering of culture at any cost is path to arbitrary totalitarian rule.

Mob rule. “Tyranny of the majority” was a term used by John Adams in 1788. Tyranny of the majority is easily accomplished by a complicit or subservient media.

Lord Acton, said: “The one pervading evil of democracy is the tyranny of the majority, or rather of that party, not always the majority, that succeeds, by force or fraud, in carrying elections.” (The History of Freedom)

And then Jefferson said “Unlimited power is in itself a bad and dangerous thing. Human beings are not competent to exercise it with discretion. God alone can be omnipotent, because his wisdom and his justice are always equal to his power. There is no power on earth so worthy of honor in itself or clothed with rights so sacred that I would admit its uncontrolled and all-predominant authority. When I see that the right and the means of absolute command are conferred on any power whatever, be it called a people or a king, an aristocracy or a democracy, a monarchy or a republic, I say there is the germ of tyranny, and I seek to live elsewhere, under other laws.”

Ben Franklin reflected, “I have lived sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And, if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? “

Government should never be the arbiter of morality. It is too easily corruptible.

“The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount ... . If we don’t have a proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the State,” said Harry Truman.

  • Remember, we’re not immune to extinction

I’d like to pose a theoretical scenario to Cal Thomas.

If a medical specialist said, “Cal, you’ve got a serious physical problem. Do nothing and you’ll die soon. Follow my prescription, which involves certain life-style changes, and there’s a good probability you’ll live, even if your life may be a bit more constrained than now.”

  • Tell legislators to do what is right for America’s vets

Without our veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, where would America be today? It is anyone’s guess, however certainly not the Freedom and Liberty we enjoy.

Have you noticed, in your travels, that the front end of a police cruiser usually protrudes a bit more than you would expect when the officer has it parked behind another vehicle on the side of the road?

An open letter to the electrical power companies in West Virginia and Maryland:
