When we don’t vote, they can do whatever they want

I would like to comment on the letter written by Will Ross of Bealeton, Va. (“You didn’t make that bridge collapse — the Republicans did,” Sept. 30 Times-News)

He wrote that if we vote for Mitt Romney we will be “buying a pig in a poke.” As a Republican, I have made no bones about the fact that Mitt Romney is not my first choice, but if I may quote another old saying, “he is the lesser of two evils.”
President Obama has made it clear he is a socialist and he has set the country on course for us all to be socialists. So the question to the voters is: Do you want to be a socialist or a capitalist?
My number one concern is the lack of voter participation. We the people only have the power to control government leadership if we vote.
The last three elections have produced 30 to 35 percent voter turnout. This is why elected officials do whatever they want without any regard for the people they were elected to represent.
If you are an eligible voter, it is your duty to vote. Please take 10 minutes on Election Day to cast your ballot. The new computerized voting system is easy to understand. Save America and vote!
