Writer should cast aside the anger and suspicion of religion

In the March 6 edition of your paper, David Crockett wrote a letter condemning religion, with particular emphasis on Christianity (“How can we respect a religion when it subjugates women?”).

He alleged that Our Father sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ to us in order to subjugate women.

Mr. Crockett, I pray for you and all who reject Our Savior. You misunderstand His message and mission. In its simplest and purest form, “For God so loved the world that he gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him,” John 3:16-17.

Jesus Christ prayed for those who scourged him and hung Him on the cross. From that cross while He was in terrible suffering and dying he prayed for our forgiveness saying, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do,” Luke 23:34.

Our Father and His Son are love, not hate. They are about freedom from death and joy in our fellowship in Christ Jesus. I am so sorry you have not yet come to understand His Truth. I pray you and every lost soul will come to His light, love and salvation.

Once, I shared your anger and suspicion of religion. My life was a shadow surrounded by sins of my own creation, and I didn’t know Jesus. Now, I know a peace that surpasses human understanding and the joy of salvation won by Christ, not by me. I hope you will find Him too. God bless you, my brother.
