To the Editor:
In a May 2011 county commissioners’ meeting, six months into their only term in office, I hope, I asked the current commissioners to work on bringing good paying permanent jobs to our community as our county is the poorest in the state of Maryland.
According to the Times-News Sept. 1 article, “Allegany considering its next move for economic progress” (Page 1A) the county commissioners have finally gotten around to writing and passing a plan to bring good paying jobs to our county.
Good grief! Almost three years into their four year term and all that they have accomplished is to write a plan to bring good paying jobs to our county.
As citizens, we should not tolerate this ineptitude.
It is incumbent upon us voters to do the only thing that we can do and that is, vote these three out of office next year.
Once, I tried to tell the current commissioners how important free speech is, to our country, in a public meeting using the famous free speech case of Cohen V. California.
At that meeting Commissioner McKay, in my opinion, suppressed my free speech rights by telling me that instead of using the four-letter expletive made famous by Cohen that I should use the word “BEEP” instead. He told me that everyone would know what I was talking about.
So, let us test out Commissioner McKay’s theory.
In conclusion, these three commissioners are BEEPing incompetent.
