To the Editor:
On Sept. 22, my wife Dotty and I attended the fundraiser and benefit held for Bruce Widdows, who has Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS), at Wood Chucks on Greene Street. What a tribute it was to Bruce from all of his many friends.
There was such a radiation of love from everyone that you could warm your hands. We did not attend but heard that the Boone’s Farm Golf Tournament, held that morning for him, was a blast too!
Drew Ingram, Bruce Widdows’ best friend, and wife Diane, and others spent a lot of time preparing this affair but for them and others that helped, it was an honor and an act of love.
Robert Lewis Stevenson commented that so long as we love, we serve; so long as we are loved by others, I should say that we are almost indispensable. No man is useless while he has a friend. And let it be said that a friend is the one who comes in when the whole world has gone out.
The show honoring Bruce that Drew produced was a knockout. Bruce is truly rich in what is most important — friends.
