Area residents and certified wildfire fighters Rande Brown, Rob Harvey, Dennis Yoder and Eric Warnick work to extinguish flames engulfing a tree in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, 12 miles west of Redding, Calif. The group recently returned from a two-week stint assisting firefighters battling wildfires that have consumed thousands of acres of land in California.
