ROMNEY — Hampshire High School’s annual parent financial aid/scholarship workshop will be held on Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium. Parents or guardians from any of the area high schools who have senior students who will be going on to further training or schooling should attend.

Robert Eagle, dean of Academics and Student Services at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College, will review the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Hampshire High parents are requested to bring the FAFSA worksheet that was distributed to their senior students on Dec. 18. Extra worksheets will be available. The various community scholarships available to Hampshire students will be detailed afterward.

Two workshops will be available at Hampshire High School for parents to come to the ABE Computer Lab and receive assistance in completing the FAFSA form. Those dates are Jan. 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Jan. 24 from 1 to 6 p.m.

Parents are requested to bring the FAFSA worksheet and pin number. To set up an appointment, call Bill Orndorff at 822-5016, Ext. 240.

Also, on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. the Guidance Department of Hampshire High will sponsor a night for the parents of current juniors.

Linda Staub, dean of students, and Penny Rinker, guidance counselor, will discuss graduation requirements, changes in college entrance requirements, technical and two-year degree programs, program of study requirements, college entrance exams, community service, job prospects and other topics relevant to the junior class.

In February and March evenings will be sponsored for the sophomore and freshman classes.
