PETERSBURG — The Small Business Development Center at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College is offering small business startup workshops.

One is available from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Petersburg at the Region 8 Planning and Development conference room in the Grant County Industrial Park and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s Moorefield Connections center on the second floor of the HARCO complex at 1929 state Route 55, one-half mile east of town.

“The keys to starting a business are knowing what you’re doing, where you’re going, what steps to take to get there and which moves to make once you’ve arrived,” said Beth Ludewig, SBDC center manager. “For those willing to do the hard work, the SBDC can offer a valuable head start and practical follow-up consultations along the way.”

In the workshop, Ludewig will detail the basic steps of starting a new business and cover topics including personal and financial considerations, state licensing, basic recordkeeping, business finance preparation and available resources. Ludewig also will discuss supportive services offered by the state of West Virginia to business owners.

To register, call Lacey Ball at (304) 434-8000 or (877) 982-2322 toll free.

The SBDC is a division of the West Virginia Development Office and works with colleges, universities and other host institutions to provide free business consulting and technical assistance at 15 statewide locations. SBDC is a program supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and extended to the public on a non-discriminatory basis. SBA cannot endorse any products, opinions or services of any external parties or activities.
