2/28 - Worker injured at mine site

WESTERNPORT - An unidentified worker was injured early Wednesday in the Westernport/Bloomington area after being "pinned in a mine shaft between two pieces of equipment," according to the Allegany County 911 Joint Communications Div-ision.

The 911 center was alerted to the incident by the Garrett County Department of Public Safety and Emergency Management at 4:36 a.m., prompting alert of Tri-Towns Rescue Squad and Bloomington Volunteer Fire Company.

The victim was taken to Cumberland Memorial Hospital by Tri-Towns for treatment of unknown injuries. No information was available from the hospital.
