HYNDMAN, Pa. - Three young adults were taken to Memorial Hospital in Cumberland early Thursday after their vehicle traveled out of control and struck two parked vehicles, one of which sheared a utility pole.
Justin Wiley, 18; Jason Wiley, 20; and Bethany Rowley, 23, were all taken to the hospital following the 1:53 a.m. crash that occurred on Cook's Mill Road, according to Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Luigi Direnzio of the Bedford barrack.
Another occupant, Curtis Matrey, 18, apparently escaped injury.
No addresses were available for any of the occupants of the 1996 Pontiac Bonneville that was operated by Justin Wiley.
Wiley was said to have sustained major injuries in the crash while Rowley sustained moderate injury and minor injuries resulted to Jason Wiley.
No information was available from the hospital.
Police said Wiley was operating the vehicle westbound when it traveled out of control, struck a guide rail on the north berm and then traveled west to Second Avenue where it struck two parked vehicles. Upon impact, one of the parked vehicles struck and sheared a utility pole.
Police said a parked 1999 Toyota Tacoma sustained severe front-end damage and a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am was disabled upon impact.
Direnzio also reported that Justin Wiley was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Hyndman fire and rescue units responded upon alert by Bedford County Control emergency center. Ellerslie, Corriganville and LaVale ambulances and Ellerslie volunteer firefighters responded following alert by the Allegany County 911 Joint Communications Division.
