CUMBERLAND — A 48-year-old city man was arrested late Thursday for driving under the influence after he sped away from Cumberland Police who attempted to stop him on Interstate 68.
Kenneth F. Failinger, 48, was also charged with failing to drive right of center. He was eventually stopped by a deputy of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office on U.S. Route 220 near Iris Avenue at about 10 p.m.
Minutes earlier, Cumberland Police said they observed Failinger driving “in and out” of lanes on I-68. Police attempted to stop the vehicle without success before Failinger traveled south onto U.S. 220.
Cumberland Police charged Failinger with reckless driving, negligent driving and attempt by driver to elude police in an official police vehicle.
In addition, Failinger was charged with two counts of violation of an ex parte order, third- and fourth-degree burglary, harassment and trespassing based upon two outstanding arrest warrants.
Failinger was jailed at the Allegany County Detention Center Friday evening on a bond of $15,000, which is to be reviewed Monday.
