LOCH LYNN — Garrett County sheriff’s deputies arrested a stabbing suspect early Saturday morning, but not before chasing him — on foot — for almost two miles.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were asked by the Preston County Sheriff’s Office to assist in a search for a suspect involved in a stabbing in Corinth, W.Va. Shortly thereafter, another assault was reported in Loch Lynn, involving the same suspect.
According to a press release from the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office, when deputies arrived, the suspect fled. They pursued on foot, following him to an apartment in the Mountain Lake Park area, where he was apprehended.
Juan Edwardo Fonseca-Malave, 24, was charged with second-degree assault in Maryland and remains in the Garrett County Detention Center, pending extradition to West Virginia. He has charges pending in West Virginia for malicious wounding, the release said.
