Truck crash kills man

SOMERSET, Pa. — A 36-year-old Rockwood man was fatally injured in a pickup truck crash that occurred Thursday night on Trent Road in Jefferson Township.

Pennsylvania State Police said Kyle Azorsky lost his life in the 9:27 p.m. crash that occurred on Trent Road at Indiantown Road.

Azorsky, who was not wearing a seat belt, was a passenger in a Ford F-150 pickup truck being operated southbound when the vehicle traveled out of control and struck an embankment.

The driver, Charles Hornick, 41, of Rockwood sustained minor injuries and was taken to Somerset Hospital for chemical testing after being suspected of drunken driving, police said.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.

Three injured in accident

FLINTSTONE — One person was flown to Memorial Hospital, another was taken for treatment by ambulance and the third was transported by private vehicle following a traffic accident Friday afternoon.

According to a dispatcher with the Allegany County 911 Joint Communications Division, the accident occurred one mile west of the Town Hill Bed and Breakfast. The vehicle went over an embankment along National Pike, about 3:50 p.m. Both people were still in the vehicle when police arrived. Speed was a factor in the cause of the accident, police said.

Police charge local man

CUMBERLAND — A 66-year-old city man was arrested on assault and reckless endangerment charges Thursday after he allegedly assaulted a person who was making repairs on his vehicle on East Harrison Street.

Theodore L. Sanders of Somerville Avenue was charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure and disorderly conduct following the 2 p.m. incident, according to Cumberland Police.

Sanders was jailed overnight and released Friday after posting $5,000 bond, according to a spokesman at the Allegany County Detention Center.

The victim told police he was making repairs to Sanders’ vehicle when Sanders became upset over the amount of time it was taking to make the repairs.

An argument ensued before Sanders allegedly pulled a knife and struck the victim on the hand as the victim attempted to defend himself.

Police said Sanders then threw the knife on the ground, picked up a brick and chased the victim down the street.

Police said there were witnesses to the incident.
