Fun on the Dance Floor

Mary Jane and Eldred Broadwater dance last Monday afternoon during the sixth annual Senior Citizen Prom at the Culinaire Cafe on Cumberland's Baltimore Street.
Approximately 180 seniors attended, with the oldest participant being Bea Wallace, 99, from the Westernport Senior Center.
All four Allegany County Human Resources Development Commission senior centers were represented - Georges Creek, Lonaconing, Frostburg and Cumberland.
The Allegany County Association of Student Councils sponsored the event and Johnny Moore entertained.
ACASC provided the decorations, door prizes, carnations and name tags.
They also acted as waiters and waitresses and danced with seniors.
The advisers of the ACASC group are Dan Whetzel and Kara Kennell.

Dr. R.J. Barrera shares a dance with Helena Lowery Saturday evening during a prom at the Allegany County Nursing Home and Rehab Center on Furnace Street.
The prom was made possible by donations from Lennox East, American Rent All, M&T Creations, Arlene and Jack Cessna, and time volunteered by the staff of Mountainside Terrace, the Alzheimer's Unit at Allegany County Nursing and Rehab Center and residents' families.
