Frostburg teen holding kids’ party
FROSTBURG — Miss Frostburg Dance Outstanding Teen Hollie Robertson, who mentors children through the Scholastic Achievement, Self-confidence and Healthy Living program, will hold a SASH party today at 11 a.m. at the Frostburg Dance Academy, 265 W. Mechanic St.
County planners to meet Wednesday
CUMBERLAND — The Allegany County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Room 100 of the County Office Complex on Kelly Road.

GOP Women’s Club to meet Wednesday
OAKLAND — The Southern Republican Women’s Club will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Adult Day Care Center along Pythian Avenue, the road past Garrett County Memorial Hospital
Charlie Ross, president and CEO of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, will speak on various projects of the chamber that are aimed at supporting the education of county students.

Out-of-district school requests due
CUMBERLAND — Requests for out-of-district placements within the Allegany County public schools for the next school year must be received by May 31.
Parents can obtain a request for an out-of-district permit at their child’s home school or in the Pupil Services Office at the Board of Education.
Pre-K and kindergarten students must have a new permit each year. Older students who have had their status reviewed by the school principal and the pupil personnel worker need not reapply each year.
Enrollment for the next school year is open at the home schools. Parents should bring a birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization records and proof of residency.
Forestry session next month at FSU
FROSTBURG — The University of Maryland Harry R. Hughes Center for Agro-Ecology will hold listening sessions to help put together plans for a Maryland Forestry Summit.
The Western Region session, to discuss forestry issues in Allegany, Garrett and Washington counties, is scheduled June 17 at 6 p.m. in Room 226 of Compton Science Center at Frostburg State University.
The sessions will play a direct role in setting public policy that will affect the future of forestry in Maryland. Top issues are retention and management of privately owned and publicly owned forests, economic viability of the forest products industry, diversity of forestry and alternative eco-enterprise opportunities.
