Food establishments post zero violations during inspections

CUMBERLAND — The Allegany County Health Department found 22 licensed food service establishments with zero violations during the latest inspection period.

•Cumberland area: Allegany County Detention Center, Bedford Road Fire Hall, Bishop Walsh School, Diamond Bowling Alley, Industrial Boulevard Subway, The Lion Center, Thomas B. Finan Center, Western Maryland Health System Adult Day Care, Western Correctional Institution Commissary and Willow Creek Adult Day Care Center

•LaVale: Brian’s Classic Hot Dogs, Burger King

•Frostburg area: Clarysville Motel, Mount Savage School

•Georges Creek area: Georges Creek and Westernport elementary schools

•Cresaptown area: Calvary Christian Academy and Cresaptown Elementary School

•Ellerslie area: Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Company and Seafood Unlimited

•Flintstone/Orleans area: Flintstone Elementary School and Loyola College at Rising Phoenix

Environmental inspections are unannounced and include the evaluation of critical food safety items that are most likely to contribute to a food-borne illness and the physical condition of the establishment.

Each facility receives two or three inspections a year, based upon its menu.

Michael Pfaff, registered sanitarian at the health department, said that earning zero violations demonstrates that these facilities maintain knowledge and ability in operating a safe food environment.
