LAST MEETING: Tuesday
ACTION:
• Appointed Gary James, Cumberland, to the Allegany County Ethics Panel for a five-year term beginning in September.
• Accepted bids from Braddock Construction, Frostburg, for asphalt repair and replacement at various schools and L&R Floors, Hagerstown, for carpet replacement at various schools. Both were the low bidders.
• Bid farewell to outgoing Superintendent Bill AuMiller, who retires at the end of the month, and outgoing student board member Alex Shin.
DISCUSSION:
• A majority of feedback from school personnel on new keyless entry security systems at Westernport and West Side elementary schools was good. Concerns included that the buzzer system distracts secretaries and may discourage parents from visiting.
• Plans to renovate Greenway Avenue Stadium are 95 percent complete, and bids are expected to be received in late July. Locker room construction may begin as early as August.
NEXT MEETING: July 14, 5 p.m. work session; 7 p.m. business meeting at Central Office, 108 Washington St.
