RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Dr. Richard Lechliter, a veterinarian, was elected Tuesday as mayor of Ridgeley. He'll succeed Mayor Mitchell Reeves, who remained jailed Wednesday at the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail on fraud charges and a $50,000 bond.

Unofficial results tabulated late Tuesday showed Lechliter with 185 votes while Reeves received 34 votes.

In the council race, Robert Shipley led the pack with 162 votes followed by Tanya Ryan, Tom Hedrick, Jim Twigg and Don Buckbee. Councilwoman Faye Lemley was sixth followed by Jonathan Kinsman and Aaron Leatherman.

For the office of town recorder, Melinda Liller was the top vote getter.
