From Staff Reports
Cumberland Times-News

CORRIGANVILLE - Fire attributed to unattended cooking displaced an Upper Homewood Addition couple Thursday.

Reginald and Lena Bridges were left homeless by the blaze that caused an estimated $90,000 loss, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

The cause of the fire in the two-story frame was reported by Deputy State Fire Marshal Mike Mattingly, who investigated the incident.

Allegany County 911 Joint Communications Division said the 9:05 a.m. fire at 11711 Iowa Drive was handled by at least five volunteer fire companies. Twenty-five volunteer firefighters from Corriganville, Ellerslie, LaVale, Mount Savage and Bowling Green responded along with LaVale Rescue Squad. Wellersburg Volunteer Fire Company was placed on stand-by during the incident.

Units were on the scene for 2 1/2 hours. Allegheny Power also responded and the American Red Cross provided immediate assistance to the victims.
