Two Garrett County residents seriously injured in I-68 crash

FRIENDSVILLE — Two Garrett County residents were seriously injured when they were ejected from their vehicle that traveled out of control and overturned early Friday on eastbound Interstate 68 at the one-mile marker near the Maryland-West Virginia line.

Jeremy Colt Moyer, 26, of Mountain Lake Park, and Kristian Rose Bittinger, 25, of Grantsville, were both admitted to Ruby Memorial Hospital following the 1:25 a.m. crash.

Moyer and Bittinger reportedly suffered serious injuries, according to the Garrett County Department of Public Safety, Division of Communications. No information was available concerning their medical condition.

Maryland State Police reported Moyer and Bittinger were occupants of a 1992 Toyota Celica when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, swerved back to the right across all lanes of eastbound traffic and then struck an embankment. Upon impact, the vehicle overturned several times, ejecting both occupants.

The accident remains under investigation with charges pending, police said.

Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter, Stat Medevac helicopter. Northern Rescue Squad and Friendsville Volunteer Fire Company also responded to the scene.
