Shaw Beach to close temporarily

ELK GARDEN, W.Va. — The Shaw Beach recreation area at Jennings Randolph Lake will close today for safety reasons after unusually dry conditions have caused low water levels.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will reopen the beach to public day use once its waters reach a safe elevation level. Depending on the amount of rainfall the watershed receives, the lake elevation could increase, which would delay the beach’s closing date.

Basshound will perform Thursday

CUMBERLAND — The Canal Place Preservation & Development Authority will hold a concert Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Canal Place stage.

The concert will feature Baltimore-based performers Basshound with the Blues Brothers Band as the opening performers. Admission will be charged. Patrons should bring blankets and chairs to enjoy an evening of music on the Crescent Lawn.

Food and beverages from Crabby Pig will be available for sale.



Martin’s recalls baby products

CUMBERLAND — As part of a nationwide manufacturer’s recall, Martin’s Food Markets removed all varieties of Cottontails Teethers from store shelves. Luv N’ Care LTD announced a voluntary recall because the gel may be contaminated with bacteria.

The recalled products include Cottontails Ice Gel Teether Keys, UPC #4152086670, and Cottontails Fun Pal Teether, UPC #4152087115.

Customers who have purchased these products should discard them and bring their purchase receipt to the store for a full refund.
