Phelps’ mother, sisters Autumn Glory parade grand marshals

OAKLAND — Michael Phelps’ mother, Debbie Phelps, and his sisters, Hillary and Whitney, will be the grand marshals of Garrett County’s 41st annual Autumn Glory Festival Grand Feature Parade on Oct. 11.

Yellowstone at Deep Creek Lake Custom Log Homes is the sponsor of the annual Autumn Glory grand marshal position for the parade that begins at 1 p.m. in Oakland.

The Autumn Glory Festival runs from Oct. 8-12 with a kickoff reception at Wisp Resort, two parades, concerts, Oktoberfest celebration, the Maryland State Banjo and Fiddle Band Championships, art exhibits, the Western Maryland Tournament of Bands, antique and craft shows and more.

Garrett County’s annual Autumn Glory Festival landed in the international spotlight last fall when the travel Web site, www.MSN.com, listed it tops among fall festivals in the world.
