Students sail on the patapsco

Cumberland Times-News

Some 50 Advanced Placement and Honors science students from Fort Hill High School experienced a Living Classroom as they boarded two sailboats and set sail along the Patapsco River. The students were able to test the river’s water quality, collect plankton, get lessons on buoyancy, trawl for fish and identify marine life. The trip was made possible with the help of the Chesapeake Bay Trust, Grants for Education in Rural Maryland, the Allegany County Teacher’s FCU and the Fort Hill Alumni Association. Teacher chaperones included Mary Fuller, Eric Van Slyke, Carole Diehl and Mac Sloan.
