Regional manager for Ford speaking at Queen City Transportation Museum’s Centennial T Party

From Staff Reports
Cumberland Times-News

CUMBERLAND — The Queen City Transportation Museum’s Centennial T Party will feature speaker John Schuldt, Ford Motor Co.’s Pittsburgh regional sales manager, and a time-period luncheon and anniversary cake.

The event is scheduled Oct. 1 from noon to 2 p.m. to celebrate the date the first Model T was assembled. The museum is located at 210 S. Centre St. in the old armory.

During the production run from 1908 to 1927, more than 15 million Model T’s were produced. It is generally regarded as the first affordable automobile and the car that “put America on wheels.” The first Model T sold for $850. However, due to Ford’s moving production line, cars could be produced quickly and efficiently, so Ford reduced the price to $290. The museum has two Model T’s on exhibit.

Advance ticket purchase is re-quired by calling (301) 777-1776.

The museum will hold a 1908 Time Travelers Adventure for children ages 7 to 12 on Oct. 4 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Participants will work on an assembly line to complete miniature Model T cars, color a Model T poster and enjoy refreshments. Advance ticket purchase also is required.
