Mineral street address project in final phase

U.S. Postal Service will give last approval to mapping plan

From Staff Reports
Cumberland Times-News

KEYSER, W.Va. — The Mineral County Commission will confirm street and road names Tuesday as the final step in the county’s 911 mapping and addressing program.

“The commission will confirm road names when it meets Tuesday. Once that is done, these names are fixed in stone for at least a year by a resolution adopted in 2004,” said Marc Bashoor, director of the Mineral County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security/911.

Citizens may view proposed road names at www.mcwvaddressing.com where comments or questions may be made by e-mail or by calling the Mapping and Addressing Office at (304) 788-4111.

Once the county approves the changes, they will be submitted to the U.S. Postal Service, which has the final approval. County residents will receive a notice indicating their new address and when it will take effect.

Streets located within the corporate limits of Carpendale, Elk Garden, Keyser, Piedmont and Ridgeley fall under the jurisdiction of the respective town governments and will not be included in the road names considered by the commission.

The Mineral County Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the county courthouse.
