NIE to begin book collection
CUMBERLAND — October signals Newspaper in Education’s collection of used books, which will be used to stock the program’s fifth annual Used Book Fair.
Gently used books are welcome for the fair that will be held in January.
Older children’s books as well as new ones are desirable. Former library books are fine, and some edgewear or minor defects do not matter.
Books in high demand include cookbooks, hard and softback novels, romances and westerns, biographies, self-help, craft, gardening, vintage magazines and religious.
Encyclopedias or textbooks, any Reader’s Digest condensed books, or National Geographic cannot be accepted. Musty, moldy books that are not fit to be handled also should not be donated.
The collection will run through the end of November with drop off points being any Times-News office, or at Center Court in The Country Club Mall.
For more information, call Linda Shipway at (301) 722-4600, Ext. 2350, or e-mail her at nie@times-news.com.
