ELK GARDEN, W.Va. — A Delmar, Md., man was killed when his Harley-Davidson motorcycle crossed the center line and into the path of a pickup truck on U.S. Route 50 at Hartmansville.
Keith David Ward, 44, died of injuries sustained in the 4:17 p.m. accident that occurred on U.S. 50 East, approximately one-half mile west of the intersection with state Route 42, according to the Mineral County Sheriff’s Department.
Police said Ward was operating a motorcycle eastbound when he collided with a truck operated by Gary W. Lucas of Kitzmiller, Md. Lucas was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
Mineral County Medical Examiner Chris Guynn, Elk District Ambulance and Mount Storm and New Creek volunteer fire companies also responded, according to the Mineral County Office of Emergency Services and Homeland Security.
