Food service report cites 21
CUMBERLAND — The Allegany County Health Department found 21 licensed food-service establishments with zero violations during its second inspection period for 2008.
• Cumberland area: Barb’s Confectionery Truck, Curtis Famous Weiners, Vocelli Pizza, Hammersmith Complex, Jennifer’s Desserts, Pete’s Concession-Cinammon Rolls, Queen City Creamery at Canal Place, The Lion Center, Greene Street Sheetz, Mister Softee Mobile Unit #1 and Western Maryland Scenic Railroad Kitchen Car.
• Westernport: Fair Price Market.
• Lonaconing: Westmar Athletic Concession Stand.
• Frostburg area: Frostburg Community Center, Lions Park Upper Field Concession Stand, Frostburg Heights Meal Site.
• Little Orleans: Town Hill Hotel Bed ’N Breakfast.
• Cresaptown: Gable’s Catering, Gene’s Drive-In.
• LaVale: Baxter’s Gourmet Catering, Wal-Mart Supercenter
Environmental inspections are unannounced. They include the evaluation of critical food safety items that are most likely to contribute to a food-borne illness as well as the physical condition of the establishment.
Each food facility receives two or three inspections annually, based upon its menu.
Dr. Sue Raver, county health officer, congratulated the facilities for outstanding efforts in providing a safe and pleasant dining experience.
