Allegany College of Md. offers business courses

CUMBERLAND — A QuickBooks continuing education course begins Nov. 4 at Allegany College of Maryland.

Registration for QuickBooks: Step 3 is due today.

The Small Business Success Class Series begins Nov. 5 at the Western Maryland Business Resource Center in downtown Cumberland.

The deadline to register is Thursday.

The Business Success Class Series is a collaborative effort of ACM, Maryland’s Small Development Center — Western Maryland Region, Frostburg State University and Western Maryland chapter of SCORE.

Georges Creek Lodge 161 meets today

LONACONING — Georges Creek Valley Lodge 161, AF&AM, will meet today at 7:30 p.m. at the lodge. The Master Mason Degree will be conferred on one candidate.

Refreshments will be served following the meeting.



Paranormal program at library Thursday

CUMBERLAND — The Western Maryland Paranormal Society will be at the Washington Street Library on Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for a presentation on Ghost Hunting in Allegany County. Members will have their equipment to show what they do.



Reagan Dinner reservations due

MOUNT SAVAGE — The Allegany County Republican Women will host a Reagan Dinner Nov. 10 at the Mount Savage Fire Hall. A social will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The program will include elected officials reporting on the state of the county and nation. Al Feldstein will speak on presidential memorabilia.

Reagan memorabilia will be featured, and door prizes and Reagan souvenir pins will be distributed to all ticket holders.

Allegany County NAACP chapter to meet Friday

CUMBERLAND — The Allegany County Chapter of the NAACP will hold its monthly meeting Friday at 5 p.m. at the Metropolitan AME Church.



EPA to hold bay meeting Nov. 5 in Moorefield

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold a series of public meetings to discuss the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load, a strict “pollution diet” to restore the Chesapeake Bay and its network of local rivers, streams and creeks.

A meeting is scheduled Nov. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moorefield High School.
